Watch On : DADVSI code

DADVSI partially censored but finally enacted !
After its examination by the French Senate and the National Assembly, a few Parliament members referred the law to the French Constitutional Council. During July, the Council censored 3 points of the law:
-The notion of interoperability was unclear and then, could not constitute a case of exemption to Digital Rights Management (DRM) cracking penalty.
-The illegal reproduction of work arts on peer-to-peer networks should be condemned as a counterfeiting offense and not as a misdemeanor.
-The principle of equal punishment was violated concerning the punishment of edition, communication to the public or advertisement for software permitting to crack DRM was stipulated, except for those relative to the share of files for which authors abandoned their rights. The law was finally enacted on August 3rd
